The artist William Clarke Rice, a native of New York City, was born in 1875. Rice attended New York City Public schools, City College and the Art Students' League where he held executive positions for many years. He began his career as an illustrator and his work appeared in many of the leading periodicals of the country. William Clarke Rice later devoted himself to mural painting and his work could be found in the collections of the city schools as well as the Park Central Hotel.
Mr. Rice taught design in the evening night schools. He was a member of the Society of Mural Painters and the Architectural League.
